GOLDEN, Ill. -- Anna R. Wienke, 96, of Golden, died Saturday (Jan. 9, 2010) in North Adams Home in Mendon. Anna was born on April 22, 1913, in Champaign County, to Ben H. and Margaret H. Gronewold Henricks. She married George Wienke on Oct. 3, 1938, in Palmyra, Mo. George died on June 17, 1960. Anna graduated from Golden High School, and attended Frances School of Beauty Culture in Quincy. She was the owner/operator of Wienke's Beauty Shop in Golden. Anna was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and Immanuel Ladies Circle and served as youth director of the Luther League. She was a lifetime member of the Golden Historical Society and authored the book "When The Wind Blows" about the Golden Windmill. Anna was the town historian, and served as curator of both the Museum at the Golden Windmill and Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was honored in 1994 as Citizen of the Year in Golden. Anna loved doing art work. Anna is survived by one brother, Paul Henricks and his wife, Beaulah, of Quincy, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Harm Henricks and Andrew Henricks; and two sisters, Elnora Yelton, and Clara Henricks. SERVICES: 11 a.m. Thursday in Immanuel Lutheran Church in Golden with the Rev. Linda Murray conducting. Interment will be in Immanuel Cemetery in Golden. VISITATION: 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday in Immanuel Lutheran Church in Golden.
