Arlene Estes, 96, of Rushville, passed away at 7:10 AM, Wednesday, November 18, 2020, at Heritage Health in Beardstown.
She was born on November 7, 1924, in Camden, the daughter of George and Beulah (Gabbert) Richardson. She married Maurice Estes on December 24, 1943, in Mt. Sterling. He preceded her in death in June 10, 1989.
Surviving are six children Steve Estes and wife Shannon of Oak Hill, Florida, Pam Bennett of Pittsfield, Debbie Jones and husband Ronny of Virginia, Terri Pritchett and husband Steve of Athol, Idaho, Monti Estes and wife Laura of Hamilton, Michigan, and Marti Estes and wife Pam of Terrell, Texas, 20 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren, one sister Ivagene Quinn of Cooperstown and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son Gary Estes, two granddaughters Lisa Estes and Tammy Hoffman, one son-in-law Dick Bennett and one sister Mildred Cox.
Arlene was a graduate of Rushville High School. For many years she worked as a clerk at the JC Penney store in Rushville. She later worked for Schuy Labs.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed flower gardening, painting, making noodles and homemade pickles. She also enjoyed baking and was known for her Angel Food cakes. Her greatest moments were those babysitting her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, November 25, 2020, at the Rushville City Cemetery with Pastor Stacy Tomich officiating. Interment will follow. Memorials are suggested to the HELP Center or the Schuyler County Humane Society.
