Barbara Blacketer

Barbara Blacketer, 74, of Quincy, passed away at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at her Home surrounded by her family.  She was born on May 31, 1946 in Warsaw, Illinois a daughter of George and Veneta (Bowen) Kropp.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Pamela D. Gengenbacher of LaGrange, Missouri, a son, James D. Blacketer and wife Jena of Coatsburg, Illinois; four grandchildren, Erin C. Boden and husband Brad, Melanie M. McCutchan and husband Hunter, Jacob J. Blacketer, and PFC Jeffery J. Blacketer; great grandchildren, Hayden L. Hively, Houston L. Schlueter, Hannah E. Boden, Brad V. Boden, Carter Werner and Gabriel McCutchan.  She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Carol Frazier.

Barbara was a member of Ellington Presbyterian Church.  She worked as a caregiver for many years.  She enjoyed throwing darts, adult coloring books and March Madness.  Her greatest joy was her grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Hunter Funeral Home in Mendon, Illinois.  Interment will follow at New Providence Cemetery in Ursa, Illinois.   Visitation will held on Wednesday morning from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the Hunter Funeral Home.  Memorials are suggested to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or to Blessing Hospice.
