Barbara “Barb” Kay Hawk, 75, of Rushville, passed away, Thursday, March 30, 2023, at Heritage Health in Beardstown, Illinois. She was born on September 9,1947, in a tent in Clayton, Illinois, the daughter of Robert and Thelma (Bubb) Hawk.
Barb is survived by one daughter, April Surratt of Henry, Illinois; her cat , Baby Girl of Jacksonville, Illinois; three granddaughters: Britney (Michael) Trone of Rushville, Illinois, Kayla Surratt of Lacon, Illinois, and Samantha Surratt of Galesburg, Illinois; one brother, Danny Hawk of Beardstown, Illinois; one sister, Linda (Jim) Barajas of Henry, Illinois; seven great-grandchildren: Lola, Joanna, Hudson, Michael, Chase, Grayson and Joseph; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Charlie and Billy Hawk; and a sister Cheryl McNaulty.
Barb was a homemaker for over 30 years. She enjoyed caring for others and after retiring, would care for her neighbors. She was especially well-known for making meals for them. She adored spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and looked forward to all their activities. You could always find her rooting on the St. Louis Cardinals, playing with Baby Girl, solving crossword puzzles, or watching Wheel of Fortune or Gunsmoke.
There will be a private family service at a later date with burial at Havana Cemetery.
