Betty Jane Frazier, 92, of Quincy and formerly of Ursa, passed away peacefully at 4:22 pm on Sunday, May 1, 2022, at Bickford Senior Living in Quincy.
She was born on December 10,1929 in Quincy, the daughter of the late Albert M. and Gladys P. (Martin) Bowen. Betty attended grade school in Timewell and later attended High School in Quincy. She married Donald John Frazier on September 4, 1949, at the Central Baptist Church in Quincy. He preceded her in death on March 13, 1995.
Betty was a bookkeeper at Ursa Farmer’s Co-Op for 22 years until her retirement. In her earlier years, she worked at J.C. Penney in Quincy, where she met and later married the love of her life, Donald Frazier. Both she and Donald were very active members of the Ursa Christian Church where Betty had held several positions through the years. She enjoyed attending Sunday school. Betty volunteered her time to help others; she was a volunteer at Blessing Hospital’s surgical lounge and hospitality house, she also donated her time to 4-H and to many school activities through the years. Betty loved her family and grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them.
She is survived by two daughters; Patty (John) Bastert of Bolingbrook and Wendy (Douglas) Engelman of Wilmington, North Carolina, five grandchildren; Jason, Jeremy and Ryan Bastert, Jacob and Kelsey Engelman, six great grandchildren; Sean and Jenna Bastert, Douglas, Chad, Evan and Cami Horn, a sister; Glenna (Richard) Henderson of Plainville, three sisters in-law; Kathy Bowen of Quincy, Diana Bowen of Quincy and Connie Bowen of Tacoma, Washington, and by several nieces, nephews and good friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Betty was preceded in death by a son, Kirk Frazier, a grandson; Douglas Engelman Jr., a granddaughter; Melissa Horn, seven brothers; Marion Bowen, Kenneth Bowen, Howard Bowen, Harold Bowen, Billy Bert Bowen, Michael Bowen and Richard Bowen, and by a sister; Alberta Butler.
Funeral services honoring Betty’s life will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at the Ursa Christian Church. Interment will follow at New Providence Cemetery in Ursa. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 pm on Friday, May 6, 2022, at the Triplett Funeral Home in Mendon.
