Betty Horlick

Betty Horlick, 80, of Rushville, passed away at 3:15 AM, Friday, July 13, 2018, at her home.

She was born on July 11, 1938, in Camden, Illinois, the daughter of Lyle E. and Louise (Bankes) Gossage.

Surviving are one sister Karen Hopkins and husband James of Rushville, three nieces Tangy Steinacher and husband Charles of Waverly, Melinda Hopkins of Quincy, and Dixie Hopkins of Rushville, one nephew James Allan Hopkins, Jr. of Rushville, several great and great great nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

Betty worked as waitress, school bus driver and corrections officer.  For a time she lived in California, before returning to Rushville.  She then worked as a dispatcher for the Mt. Sterling Police Department and with the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office.

She enjoyed sewing and playing on her computer.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date at the Good Hope Cemetery, north of Rushville.  Memorials are suggested to the Schuyler County Humane Society.
