Billie Kay Peters-Anderson, 94 ,of Ursa formerly of Keokuk passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at the Addison Assisted Living facility in Pleasant Prairie, WI.
Billie was born on March 13, 1922 in Quincy to the late Edwin and Minnie Weber. She married Gail Peters on July 17, 1948 in Ursa. They lived at the home on the Peters Dairy Farm, While she and Gail raised three sons, Kent, Mark and Craig.
Billie attended school at the Indian Grave School and High School in Mendon, where she taught for two years after she graduated from Iowa State University. She went to teach farm women how to use electricity and gas to heat their homes, refrigerate and cook their food as a home educator for the Illinois-Iowa Electric and gas Company.
After Billie’s Boys were in school full time she went on to teach for 31 years in the Keokuk School System. She taught 2nd and 3rd grades at the Wells-Casey school and later became the reading specialist. She retired after Gail had a severe stroke. She took great care of him until he passed away on March 16, 1996.
Billie married Milo Roger Anderson of Ursa on June 12th, 1999 after a 14 month courtship. She an Milo traveled extensively and spent the coldest part of the next 16 winters at their home in Pharr, TX in the Rio Grande Valley. Milo passed away on July 7, 2016. Billie then moved to the Addison Assisted Living Facility in Pleasant Prairie, WI., where she was visited daily by her son Kent of Kenosha, WI. Sons Mark and Craig visited her frequently along with their wives and families.
Surviving are; 3 sons, Kent Peters of Kenosha, WI., Mark Peters of Naperville, Craig Peters of Willow Springs, 3 daughters-in-law, Jennifer, Gloria and Linda, 6 grandchildren, Jessica, Courtney and Mark Evan, Kristina, Erik and Josh Peters, 4 great grandchildren, Mark, Sven, Ingrid, Dahlia, Piper and one on the way. Also surviving are; one sister, Mary of Golden, one sister-in-law and Faye Bunch of Macomb.
Services will be 11:00 A.M. on Monday, November 28, 2016 in the Ursa Christian Church in Ursa with Reverend Jerry Bown. Interment will be in New Providence Cemetery in Ursa. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services on Monday in the church.
