Clifford Lee “Pete” Friday, 79, of Rushville, passed away at 4:56 AM, Sunday, January 28, 2018, at his home.
He was born on April 28, 1938, in Woodstock Township, Schuyler County, Illinois, the son of Clifford and Catherine Lucille (VanOrder) Friday. He married Ellen Lucille Clanin on March 8, 1964, in Schuyler County, Illinois. She preceded him in death on June 16, 2001.
Surviving are one son Thomas James “Tom” Friday of Rushville, one granddaughter Jody Friday and husband Brandon Holder of Astoria, two great grandsons Aiden Michael Friday and Brandon Holder, Jr., three brothers Robert “Bob Friday of Rushville, Wayne Friday and wife Jennifer of Springfield, Don Friday and wife Eve of Metamora, three sisters Anna Robbins of Rushville, Ruby Hammack of Summum, and Donna Hammack and husband Douglas, Sr. of Pleasant View, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers James Friday and Russell Friday, one sister Mildred Ren, two half-sisters Dorothy Bowman and Dory Anderson.
Pete worked as a laborer for Robinson’s Concrete Products in Frederick, the Arenzville Saw Mill and Sharkey’s in Beardstown.
He enjoyed watching the Golden Girls and John Wayne westerns, John Deere tractors, fishing, hunting, taking long walks and the outdoors. He also enjoyed playing cards and checkers. He loved special times with his great grandsons.
Graveside Services will be at 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 1, 2018, at the Browning Cemetery, near Browning with Pastor Greg Fish officiating. Interment will follow. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to his family.
