Dave Runkle

Dave Allen Runkle, 77, of Rushville, passed away at 2:30 pm on Monday, April 7, 2025, at his home.

He was born on August 29, 1947, in Macomb, the son of the late Harold & Lorena (Newell) Runkle. Dave married Mary Ann Heller in September of 1970 in Mt. Sterling and she survives.

Dave was a lifelong farmer in the area. He really enjoyed working on his farm and was always watching over its operations. He and his best friend; Larry Egbert, enjoyed going mushroom hunting. He was always on the go and didn’t like to sit in one spot for too long. Dave enjoyed Rushville high school sports; especially basketball. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed acquiring antiques. Above all, Dave loved to spend time with his family.

In addition to his wife of nearly 55 years, Mary Ann, Dave is survived by his daughter; Terri (Steve) Ing of LaPrairie, three grandchildren; Ashley Sprinkle of Rushville, Stephen Sprinkle of Mount Vernon & David (Maxine) Richards of Macomb, a brother; Larry (Linda) Runkle of Idaho, a sister; Janet (Max) Greer of Springfield, a brother in-law; Paul Moore of Champaign and by several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Dave was preceded in death by a daughter; Sherri Richards and by a sister; Nancy Moore.

Funeral services honoring Dave’s life will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, April 14, 2025, at Saint John's Lutheran Church of Beardstown. Rev. Keith Kettner will preside. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until the time of services at the church. Interment will follow at Saint John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Beardstown.The Triplett & Wood Funeral Home of Rushville has been entrusted with the care and arrangements.
