Dawn Root Bronson, 37, of Phoenix, Arizona, formerly of Rushville, passed away at 3:05 AM, Sunday, April 24, 2016, at the Arizona Heart Hospital in Phoenix.
She was born on December 7, 1978, in Canton, Illinois, the daughter of Rick and Rebecca (Spears) Root. She married Johnathon Lee Bronson on February 22, 2008, in Rivera Maya, Mexico. He survives.
Also surviving are her father Rick Root of North Fort Myers, Florida, her mother and step father Becky and Phil Koch of Ripley, one sister Danielle Barrett of Rushville, grandparents Don and Mary Root of Rushville and Rose Spears of Beardstown, step grandparents Charlie and Norma Koch of Mt. Sterling, two nieces and one nephew Brynlee Barrett, Duece Bronson, Amyah Bronson, several aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather William “Bill” Spears.
Dawn was a 1997 graduate of Rushville High School, where she was a cheerleader for the football team, played volleyball, softball, and girls’ basketball and was a member of the drill team. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and a Master’s Degree in International Finance from Western Illinois University in Macomb. She worked for Wells Fargo Bank as a credit analyst supervisor for the last 10 years.
She enjoyed trying new restaurants, shopping, traveling, and staying in to watch movies. She truly loved her work. It served as a therapy for her and she enjoyed Wells Fargo Bank and the employees she worked with. She enjoyed watching sports of all kinds and had developed many friends in professional and collegiate sports. She always cheered for the player rather than the team. The only exception was the Arizona Cardinals Football Team. Her passion was her family. She enjoyed trips back to visit with family and friends, especially her niece Brynlee.
Services will be at 1:00 PM, Sunday, May 1, 2016, at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville, with Pastor Charla Meyers officiating. Interment will follow in the Rushville City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Saturday, April 30, 2016, at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville. Memorials are suggested to Uplifting Athletes, an umbrella organization that assist various charities or an education fund for her niece Brynlee.
