Deloris was born on Aug. 10, 1932, in Quincy, to Rufus A. and Dorothea Clemens Owens. She married Leander Junior Ruffcorn on Dec. 21, 1967, in Alton. Leander died Dec. 1, 2003.
Deloris was a 1950 graduate of Quincy High School and a 1967 graduate of Gem City College in Quincy. She was a support services worker at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy for nine years. She enjoyed bowling and was secretary of the Mendon Bowling League. Deloris also enjoyed fishing, playing bingo and playing poker.
Surviving are one daughter, Melynie Lea Ruffcorn of Killeen, Texas; two grandchildren, Lawrence (Michelle) Martin and Horatio Pargo; two stepgrandchildren, Steven Thomas and Zahkill Thomas, all of Texas; one sister, Lauretta R. Anders of Rensselaer; and one nephew, Chuck Anders of Renssalaer.
She was preceded in death by her father, Rufus Owens; mother and stepfather, Vernon and Dorothea Pinkerton; one sister, Almedia J. Owens; and one brother, J.B. Hamblen.
SERVICES: 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, in the Hunter Funeral Home in Mendon with the Rev. Joe Tomich conducting. Interment will be in the Quincy Memorial Park.
VISITATION: 10-11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, in the funeral home.
MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions have been suggested to the Loraine Lions Club.
