Dennis Kette

May 16, 1950 — January 28, 2025

Rushville

Dennis W. Kette, 74, of Rushville, passed away at 7:48 pm on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at Beardstown Health & Rehabilitation Center, in Beardstown.

He was born on May 16, 1950, in Los Angeles, California, the son of the late Clifford & Doris Mae (Powell) Kette. He married Patricia Layne on January 12, 2002, in Rushville and she survives.

Dennis worked for many years with DOT Foods in Mt. Sterling, serving in several capacities and lastly as Food Safety Coordinator until his retirement in 2014. He enjoyed fishing, playing golf, and being outdoors. For the first forty years of his life, Dennis loved to play tennis and enjoyed the ocean and was an avid body surfer. He loved music of all sorts and enjoyed singing. Dennis led the song service for many years at his church. He was a people person and enjoyed visiting with others. He was never at a loss for words. Most of all, Dennis loved his family and cherished his time with them.

The Dennis that his family and friends knew was full of love, compassion and hope. He had a California way about him that they all appreciated. He was easy going, life loving and had an unquenchable thirst for the mysteries of God; always holding on to the ways of faith. Dennis’s smiling face and quick wit will be missed by his loving family and friends.

In addition to his wife of 23 years, Patti, Dennis is survived by two daughters; Kristy Kette of Minneapolis, Minnesota & Kimberly Kette-Dutton of San Diego, California, a stepson; Ryan (Lauren) Trone of Knoxville, Tennessee, three grandchildren; Morgan, Kiera & Violet, two brothers; Gordon (Lin) Kette of Warsaw, Indiana & Glen (Debbie) Kette of Surprise, Arizona, and by several nieces and nephews.
