Doris Stump

Doris P. Stump, 86, of Sandy Spring, Md., formerly of Mendon, died Sunday (Dec. 21, 2014) in the Friends Nursing Home in Sandy Spring.

Doris was born on Dec. 28, 1927, in Tioga to the late Ernest and Rosa Mae (Ewing) Brackensick.

She married Lowell Stump on Feb. 27, 1947 in Kansas City, Kan. They made their home in Mendon for many years before moving to the Chicago area in 1971. They returned to the area in 1985 and made their home in Bowen, where Doris owned and operated a beauty salon. After Lowell's death in 1994, Doris returned to Mendon and later lived in Quincy until 2012 when she moved to Maryland.

While living in Quincy, Doris was a member of Faith Assembly of God Church. She was very active in church activities as well as the women's organizations. She enjoyed crocheting, playing dominos with her friends and was an avid bowler.

Doris is survived by two children, Randy (Diane) Stump of Kenai, Alaska and Tana (Bill) Stanton of Rockville, Md.; three grandchildren, William Stanton, Ryan Stanton and Tyler Stump and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold, Paul E. and Carroll Brackensick and one sister, Marie Harms.

SERVICES: 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, at the Hunter Funeral Home in Mendon, with Lloyd Harms officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Camp Point.

VISITATION: 12:30 to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 27 in the Hunter Funeral Home in Mendon.
