She was born Dec. 6, 1929, in Liberty, as a daughter of Carl A. and Mary (Wiewel) Smith Sr. She married Leroy Paben on Feb. 18, 1947, in Carthage. He survives.
Dorothy was a homemaker and assisted her husband with the family farm. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bowen. She enjoyed quilting and embroidery. She and her family spent many hours boating. She and her husband enjoyed dancing. She was known for her cooking, and her flower and vegetable gardens.
In addition to her husband, she is also survived by two sons, Dean Paben and wife, Nancy, of Quincy, and Jim Paben and wife, Cathy, of Camdenton, Mo.; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Carl A. Smith Jr. and wife, Lynn, of Beardstown; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence Smith and James Smith; and one sister, Virginia Paben.
SERVICES: 10 a.m. Monday, March 23, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Bowen, with the Rev. Mike Fieberkorn conducting. Interment will follow in the Golden Memorial Gardens in Golden.
VISITATION: 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 22, at the Hunter Funeral Home, Golden.
