Velma Faye Corbin, 72, of Ripley, passed away at 10:12 AM, Saturday, April 9, 2016, at her home.
She was born on April 30, 1943, in Ripley, the daughter of Russell Roscoe and Ruby Pearl (Gossage) Moore. She married Larry Corbin on November 25, 1967, in Rushville and he survives.
Also surviving are two sons Jim Ward and wife Karen of Cooperstown and Marvin Corbin and wife Diane of Ripley, one daughter Belinda Bassett and husband Jerry of Rolla, Missouri, a daughter-in-law Brenda Park of Virginia, 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, four sisters and her mother-in-law Maurine Corbin of Quincy. She was preceded in death by two sons Harold William Park and William Keith “Ballpark” Park, and three sisters.
Faye worked as a waitress at several area restaurants. She was the type of person, who always wanted to help people, but was reluctant to accept help for herself. She enjoyed playing cards, being outdoors, and her roses. The most important thing in her life were her kids and grandkids.
Private graveside services were held at the Ripley Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family. The family is being assisted by the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville.
