Frances Ross

Frances Eliza Ross, 92, of Rushville, passed away at 4:35 AM, Monday, October 9, 2017, Heritage Health, Therapy and Senior Care in Beardstown.

She was born on November 30, 1924, in Macomb, the daughter of Forest G. and Anna P. (Matheny) Toland.  She married Robert R. Ross on May 21, 1945, in Galesburg.  He preceded her in death on February 18, 2010.

Surviving are three sisters-in-law Jane Toland of Lafayette, Indiana, Lela Tomlinson of Quincy and Ruth Diseron and husband Richard of Rushville, one brother-in-law Maurice Ross of Rushville, five nephews, seven nieces, one step nephew, three step nieces and several great nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by two brothers Glade Toland and William Toland, an infant sister Mary M. Toland, sisters-in-law Rayetta Ross, Sonja Ross and Mabel Heath, brothers-in-law Russell Tomlinson, Joseph Heath and Byron Ross and a nephew Rodney Diseron

Frances attended Olive Branch and Hickory Grove rural schools in Schuyler County.  She was a 1942 graduate of Industry High School and attended Western State Teachers College in Macomb.  For 2 years, she worked for Illinois Commercial Telephone Company in Macomb.  She was a farm wife and homemaker.

She was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School.  For over 60 years, she was a member of the Schuyler County Home Extension, having served several years as President.  She was also the leader of the Blue Ribbon 4-H Club for 11 years and a member of the Illinois State and National Associated Women of the World.  She loved her home and flowers.  Frances was also a seamstress and member of the Nifty Needlers Quilting Group.

Services will be at 11:00 AM, Thursday, October 12, 2017, at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville, with David Haney officiating.  Interment will follow in the Rushville City Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Thursday, October 12, 2017, at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville.  Memorials are suggested to the Ebenezer United Methodist Church.
