George was born Nov. 25, 1991, to George Edward and Frances D. (Rossiter) Stevens.
George was a 2010 graduate of Camp Point Central High School and a member of LaPrairie Community Church in LaPrairie and Adams County Olde Tyme Association. He attended John Wood Community College in Quincy and worked for Suzy Q's in Golden.
George was a furry, which is someone who dresses up in costume to help raise money for various charities. He volunteered at summer camp helping disabled children and was a Boy Scout in his younger days.
He enjoyed old time music, spending time with veterans listening to their stories and going to machine gun shoots. He loved animals, especially chickens, playing guitar, shooting guns and was a WWII buff.
Surviving include his parents, Ed and Frances Stevens of LaPrairie; a sister, Holly (John) Sedore of Milton, Iowa; maternal grandparents, Donald and Jennifer Rossiter of LaPrairie; paternal grandmother, Carlene Stevens of LaPrairie; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, George Riley Stevens.
SERVICES: 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 23, in the Knoxville City Cemetery in Knoxville.
VISITATION: 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, at the Hunter Funeral Home, Golden.
