Glenna M. Prather, 85, of Beardstown and formerly of Rushville, passed away at 8:30 am on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at Beardstown Health and Rehabilitation Center in Beardstown.
She was born on May 9, 1938, in Pike County, the daughter of the late Alfred & Marie (Diehl) Martin. Glenna married Howard Prather at the First United Methodist Church of Rushville on November 22, 1958, and he preceded her in death on March 8, 2018.
Glenna worked for True Value Hardware in Rushville and later for Kerr Home Center in Rushville for many years until her retirement. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Rushville where she had been a volunteer for the church youth groups over the years. Glenna and Howard were 4-H leaders of the Kinderhook Champions for many years. Glenna and Howard made sure their house was a place where anyone family or not could come visit or stay. Glenna did not know a stanger, family and friends was everything to Glenna and Howard especially their children and grandchildren. Glenna loved flowers especially roses and watching birds.
She is survived by two daughters; Peggy “Peg” Marcelino of Rushville & Phyllis (Tim) Metz of Versailles, a son; Allan (Jennie) Prather of Cherryvale, Kansas, a grandson; Seth (Lacey) Marcelino, four step grandchildren; Justin (Jaci) Workman, Tara (Jeremy) Ratcliff, Lori Camp & Tom (Cassie) Marcelino, two great grandchildren; Kendyl & Karson Marcelino, nine step great grandchildren; five step great-great grandchildren and a forthcoming step great-great grandchild, two sisters in-law; Patricia Martin of Macomb & Joyce Prather of Rushville and by several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband Howard, Glenna was preceded in death by her brother; Donald Martin and by her beloved cousin; Larry Jones.
Funeral services honoring Glenna’s life will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at the Triplett & Wood Funeral Home of Rushville. Pastor Stacy Tomich will officiate. Interment will follow at the Rushville City Cemetery. Visitation for Glenna will be held from 10:00 am until the time of services on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in memory of Glenna are suggested to the Schuyler County Humane Society or to the Beardstown Health & Rehabilitation Center’s activity fund.
