James was born Oct. 21, 1938, in Bogota, a son of Darrell Lorraine and Evelyn Kingery Fritschle.
James was lifelong farmer and taught industrial arts and shop at Augusta and Southeastern high schools for more than 30 years.
He was a member of the First Christian Church in Camp Point, where he taught the adult Sunday school and was a member of the Augusta Lions Club. He owned and operated the Wood Miser Sawmill and helped restore the Golden Windmill.
He loved raising his cattle, going to auctions, dancing and especially spending time with his children and grandchildren.
James is survived by his fiancAC.e, Joan Tenhouse of Golden; two children, David (Genie) Fritschle of LaPrairie, Mary Sue (Larry) Akers of LaPrairie; grandchildren, Makinzie (fiancAC. Ryan Stack) Fritschle of Naperville, David Joshua Fritschle of Yorkville, Jennifer Graff of Ursa, Melissa (Alex) Neisen of Quincy, Michael Graff of Ursa, Jessica (Zach) Seals of Ursa; stepgrandchildren, Alexandra Tribble of LaPrairie, Bradley Akers of Clovis, N.M., Samantha Akers of Phoenix, Ariz., Gail Harrison of Quincy; great-grandchildren, Braxton Seals of Ursa, Zali Seals of Ursa, Colton Graff of Ursa; stepgreat-grandchildren, Keenan Goodwin of LaPrairie, Hayliah Wigfall of Phoenix, Alisabeth Harrison of Quincy; one brother, Paul (Caryn) Fritschle of Mount Carmel.
He was especially fond of Joan's children, Peggy Linn, Paula Harwood, Pamela Benad, Perry Tenhouse; and her grandchildren, Amanda Jackson, Lindsay Harwood, Christian Benad, Cody Linn, Landon Tenhouse, Lacey Linn, and Tanner Tenhouse.
SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 23, at the Hunter Funeral Home, Golden with Richard Fordyce conducting. Interment will be in Mount Horeb Cemetery east of Golden.
VISITATION: 4-7 p.m., Friday, May 22, at the funeral home.
MEMORIALS: First Christian Church of Camp Point or the Southeastern High School FFA Program.
