James Shelts

James "Jim" R. Shelts, 75, of Jacksonville, Illinois passed away Tuesday June 21, 2022 at his home with his wife by his side.

He was born January, 20, 1947, in Rushville Illinois, the son of Russell and Maxine Downs Shelts. He married Susan L. Riley on July 7, 1984, in Virginia Illinois, and she survives.

He is also survived by his mother, Maxine Shelts of Camden, Illinois; two beloved children from a previous marriage, Denise and Michael both of Jacksonville; one brother Kevin (Cindy) of Camden; and nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his father and his brother, Dennis  and one nephew, Will.

Jim was a therapist in drug and alcohol abuse. He was a avid golfer with his friend Ric Smart for over 28 years. He loved woodworking and loved his rock and roll.

A memorial service will be held 4:00 P.M Friday, June 24, 2022, at Triplett & Wood Funeral Home in Rushville, Illinois. The family will meet friends from 3:00 until 4:00 prior to the service. Private burial will be held at Brooklyn Cemetery.
