JoAnn Robertson, 88, of Keosauqua, Iowa, formerly of Rushville, Illinois, passed away at 11:58 AM, Friday, July 10, 2020, at her home.
She was born on September 26, 1931, in Cairo, Illinois, the daughter of Joseph and Dorothy (Ehrhardt) Urban. She married Lester Robertson on October 10, 1953, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Rushville. He preceded her in death on February 2, 2020.
Surviving are four children Mark A. Robertson and wife Vicki of Keosauqua, Bryce A. Robertson and wife Kathy of Quincy, Illinois, Ellen M. Cassiday and husband Kelly of Springfield, Illinois, and Kevin C. Robertson and wife Melinda of Rushville, eleven grandchildren Gerad Robertson and wife Deb, Seth Robertson and wife Heather Marie, Heather Charbonneau and husband Matt, Casey Cook and husband Greg, Nick Robertson and wife Katybeth, Shane Cassiday and wife Jessi, Trace Cassiday and wife Laura, Dustin Robertson and wife Rachel, Kristen Moore and husband Jim, Bryan Robertson and companion Alexandra, and CJ Trello, 26 great grandchildren, four brothers Ted Urban and wife Marie of Mystic, Connecticut, Bill Urban and wife Mary Sue of Falls of Rough, Kentucky, Bob Urban of Bedford, New Hampshire, and Jim Urban and wife Gail of Moneta, Virginia, three sisters Lillian Joering and husband Jim of Westerville, Ohio, Helen Pagano and husband Seb of Benton, Illinois, and Mary Beth Bradley of Taylor Ridge, Illinois, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother Carl Urban.
She first worked for Ernest Utter Law Offices. She also helped with the opening of the Ben Franklin Store in Rushville. JoAnn went to school and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked as a LPN and Scrub Nurse at Schmidt Memorial Hospital in Beardstown from 1953 to 1972. She was a farmer’s wife and she and her husband operated Robertson Photography.
She was of the Catholic faith. She enjoyed fishing. She and her husband enjoyed riding motorcycles, in all 48 continental United States and 3 providences of Canada.
Services will be at 10:00 AM, Thursday, July 16, 2020, at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville, with Reverend Herbert Shafer officiating. Interment will follow in the New Ridgeville Cemetery, near Browning. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, July 15, 2020, at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville, with a prayer service following the visitation. Memorials are suggested to Every Step Hospice of Mt. Pleasant, IA, St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church of Rushville or the American Cancer Society.
