LIBERTY, Ill. -- Joyce K. Donley, 68, of Liberty, passed away peacefully Monday (Aug. 3, 2015) at Blessing Hospital, Quincy.

Joyce was born in Quincy on Jan. 25, 1947, daughter of Warren Charles and Alvena Mae (Hardy) Clark. She married James E. "Eddie" Donley on Christmas Eve 1964 in Quincy. Joyce and Eddie celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past December.

Joyce was a devoted wife and mother all her life. She and Eddie farmed near Liberty for the past 45 years. After their two kids were raised, she worked as a secretary for the Farmers Bank of Liberty, Liberty Grade School, and former State Representative Art Tenhouse. She then worked in the dietary department at the Illinois Veterans Home, where she retired from after several years.

Joyce was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Liberty.

She loved to cook and sew. She was known for her prize-winning Thanksgiving ham. She enjoyed boating in the summer and snow skiing in the winter. She cherished her grandchildren and loved to spend time with them.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Eddie; son, James W. (Danelle) Donley of Plainville; daughter, Julie A. (Mark) Niemerg of Mattoon; four grandchildren, Andy, Hallie and Malea Niemerg of Mattoon and Austin Donley of Plainville; one brother, John W. (Janet) Clark of Maywood, Mo.; two sisters, Judy (Frank) Garthaus of Decatur and Jo Ann Seybold of Quincy; and brothers-in-law, Don (Esther) Donley of Peotone, Floyd Donley of Kentucky, Bob (Beverly) Donley of Abingdon and Lawrence (Nancy) Donley of Lemont. She is also survived by an uncle, and several aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents; a sister-in-law, Connie Donley; a niece, Christina Clark; and two nephews, Brad Donley and Brian Donley.

SERVICES: 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7, at the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Liberty, with the Rev. Sheri Renner and the Rev. Lois Sorrill conducting. Interment will be in Curless Cemetery, near Loraine.

VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, at the Hunter Funeral Home, Mendon.

MEMORIALS: Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church or the Blessing Foundation.
