Judith A. “Judy” Hibbs, 79, of Rushville, passed away at 6:29 PM, Sunday, August 16, 2020, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
She was born on July 18, 1941, in Mt. Sterling, the daughter of John and Bertha (Ebbing) McHatton. She married John “Jack” Hibbs in 1976 in Mt. Sterling. He preceded her in death on July 22, 1997.
Surviving are four children Belinda Robson of Jacksonville, Mary Sebers of Rochelle, Bobby Hibbs and wife Theisa of Rushville and Michelle Shults and husband Scott of Industry, fourteen grandchildren Heather Striet and husband Brian, Blake Perry, Eric Robson, Nicole martin and husband Travis, Cody Crenshaw, Alaina Cagle, Brennan Hibbs, Ryland Cagle, Kai Smice, Natalia Hibbs, Dylan Curless, Kaitlynn Weishaar and husband Nick, McKayla Curless and Ethan Shults, five great grandchildren Dylan Striet, Austin Martin, Jacob Martin, Silas Hibbs, Alice Hibbs and one on the way, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son Timothy McHatton, two grandsons Joshua Perry and Christopher Perry, three brothers Joe, Bill and Charlie and sisters Norma, Marjorie, Alice, Mary and her twin Julie.
Judy attended St. Mary’s School and graduated from Brown County High School in the Class of 1959.
In 1988, she began working as a CNA at Snyder’s Vaughn-Haven Nursing Home in Rushville, retiring in 2016.
She enjoyed eating lunch with friends and spending time with her family. She rarely missed a yard sale.
Services will be at 11:00 AM, Friday, August 21, 2020, at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville, with Pastor Larry DeSha officiating. Interment will follow in the Rushville City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to service time Friday at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville. Memorials are suggested to the HELP Center in Rushville
