Kirk Peter

MENDON, Ill. -- Kirk S. Peter, 62, of Mendon, passed away Friday (May 23, 2014) in his home.

He was born April 14, 1952, in Santa Maria, Calif., a son of Don and Lenora Parker Peter. He married Pam Zenke on Sept. 6, 1985, in Ursa. She survives of Mendon.

Kirk graduated from Unity High School in 1970. He was a partner with his dad and brother in Peter Farms until his retirement. He was a past Unit 4 School Board member, past township supervisor, treasurer for the Mendon Fire Protection District and a current township trustee. He enjoyed going to his kids' and granddaughter's sporting events, spending winters in Florida and visiting with neighbors and friends.

In addition to his wife, Pam Peter, of Mendon, survivors include his parents, Don and Lenora Peter, of Quincy; two children, Tori Nichols of Mendon and Karl Peter of Mendon; two granddaughters, Kaylee and Taylor Nichols; a brother, Mark (Jill) Peter, of Mendon; and a sister, Trish (Buddy) Andrews, of Chicago.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Andrew and Matthew Peter.

SERVICES: 10 a.m. Thursday, May 29, in the Hunter Funeral Home, Mendon, with Pastor Dennis Gartung conducting. Interment will be in Mendon Cemetery.

VISITATION: 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, in the funeral home.

MEMORIALS: Ronald McDonald House or donor's choice.
