GOLDEN, Ill. -- L. Juanita Walker, 92, of Golden, formerly of St. Joseph, Mo., died at 9:50 p.m. Monday (May 26, 2014) in Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

She was born on July 30, 1921, in Worthington, Minn., the daughter of the late Russell Telford and Katie Rust Rose. She married Benjamin James Walker on Jan. 27, 1940, in St. Joseph and he died April 1, 1991.

A graduate of Benton High School in St. Joseph, Juanita worked on the assembly line of Noma Lights and Meade, retiring in 1971.

Juanita and Jim started the first motorcycle club in St. Joseph called the Pony Express Riders. They were members of the American Motorcycle Association, where Juanita was a Motor Maid and one of the first women to ride her own bike. She enjoyed playing games and working jigsaw puzzles.

In 2009, she moved to Golden to be with her daughter. She attended the First Baptist Church in Plymouth.

Surviving are two daughters, Sharon Kay Weese (husband Jerry) of Golden and Gloria Jean Walker (husband Stephen Cox) of Grain Valley, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Danny Weese (partner Timm Harrison), David Weese (wife Debbie), Debbie Weese-Roberts (husband Michael), Douglas Weese (wife Lynette), Darren Weese (partner Lisa Wiskirchen), Marc Murphy, and Scott Cox (fiancA�AC.e Katy Lewis); 17 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lyla Pauline Riley of Palm Springs, Fla., and Lavone Lois Bringus of Kansas City, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Chad Murphy; a brother, Russell Rose Jr.; and a sister, Frances Ilene England.

SERVICES: 5 p.m. Thursday, May 29, in the Hunter Funeral Home in Golden, with Pastor Jerry Taylor officiating. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at St. Joseph Memorial Park in St. Joseph, Mo.

VISITATION: 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday, May 29, at the Hunter Funeral Home in Golden.

MEMORIALS: First Baptist Church in Plymouth or the Wounded Warrior Project.
