Lois Flesner

GOLDEN, Ill. -- Lois E. Flesner, 74, of Golden, died at 10:20 a.m. Monday (July 6, 2009) in the Golden Good Shepherd Home in Golden. Lois was born Sept. 10, 1934, a daughter of Nicholas and Tena Hippen Busboom. She was married to Kenneth Flesner in Trinity Lutheran Church in Golden on Aug. 22, 1954. Lois was baptized, confirmed and married by Dr. Rev. K.W. Brawn. After marriage she was a lifelong member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Clayton. Lois was an active member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Women's Missionary League. She was a supporter and board member of the Golden Historical Society, serving 17 years as an active volunteer and treasurer for 11 years. She served as a Sunday school teacher and as a youth counselor for 19 years at the church. She loved cooking and serving home cooked meals to others. Lois was employed as a secretary in the grain elevators of Chatton and Golden for 56 years. She worked for Ehmen Brothers, Eldred, Virgil, and Vernon, Robert Leenerts, and for 11 years she worked for Matt Dearwester, owner of Dearwester Grain. Surviving are her husband, Kenneth Flesner, of Golden; a brother-in-law, Edward Taute; nephews, James Taute and his wife, Pat, of Golden, Don Taute of Golden and Steve Taute and his wife, Debbie, of Decatur; three great-nephews; two great-nieces; eight great-great-nephews and geat-great-nieces; and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Arlene Taute; and a brother, Henry in infancy. SERVICES: 10 a.m. Friday in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Clayton, with the Rev. Robert Alexander conducting. Burial will be in Golden Memorial Gardens at Golden. VISITATION: 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the Hunter Funeral Home in Golden.
