Marna J. “Jane” Emerick, 85, of Rushville, passed away at 5:06 AM, Tuesday, January 17, 2017, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
She was born on July 1, 1931, in Peoria, the daughter of Lloyd and Gertrude (Edwards) VanMeter. She married Donald Emerick on September 11, 1949 and he preceded her in death on April 18, 1960. Also preceding her in death were her parents, son William Alan “Bill” Emerick and sister Betty Edwards Alters.
Surviving are two daughters Dianne Emerick and Linda Fleck and husband Charles all of Rushville, three grandchildren Scott Rexroat, and Charlie Fleck and wife Chanda all of Rushville and Dr. Erica Fleck and companion Chad Person of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, four great grandchildren Grant, Ethan and Emery Rexroat, and Caitlyn Fleck. Her fifth great grandchild Mason Person is due in May. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Jane first worked at Mary’s Dari-Maid and Mickelberry’s in Rushville. She later worked as an X-Ray technician at Culbertson Memorial Hospital for many years retiring in 1993.
She enjoyed reading, flower gardening and attending her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s activities. She was an avid Cardinals baseball fan.
Services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 21, 2017, at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville, with Reverend John Sowers officiating. Interment will follow in the Rushville City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday, January 20, 2017, at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville. Memorials are suggested to Hope Blooms or the Culbertson Memorial Hospital Foundation.
