Mary was born Nov. 15, 1941, in Quincy to the late Ernest B. and Ada Mary Mae (Henrick) Buss. She married Kenneth Janssen on April 5, 1959, in Immanuel Lutheran Church in Golden. Kenneth survives of Golden.
Mary was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Golden. She worked for several years at Golden Good Shepherd Home in Golden then worked as a meat wrapper at the Golden Locker. She was a member of the Mississippi Valley Muzzleloaders and a past Cub Scout leader. She loved gardening, baking, crafting and collecting deer figurines and was an excellent cook.
Surviving are two children, Tracy Kurfman of Golden and Timothy Janssen of Golden; and three grandchildren, Emily (Nathaniel) Royalty of St. Charles, Mo., Elizabeth (Bryan) Tobin of Rockford and Sarah Kurfman of Naperville.
She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Randy Kurfman; one brother, Eugene Buss; and one sister, Shirley Leenerts.
SERVICES: 10 a.m. Thursday in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Golden, with the Rev. Linda Murray conducting. Interment will be in Golden Community Cemetery, Golden.
VISITATION: 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Hunter Funeral Home, Golden.
MEMORIALS: Immanuel Lutheran Church or Community for Christ Assistance Center.
