Michael Bailey

Michael William Bailey, 54, of Rushville, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at his home.  He was born on December 20, 1968, the son of David and Sheila Kahtz Bailey.

Michael is survived by his parents, David and Sheila of Bradenton, FL , wife Stacy Ashcraft of Rushville, IL, son, Christian Bailey of Carlinville, IL, daughter Josie (Joe) Wheeler of Urbana, IL, two stepsons, Jake and Tanner Ashcraft both of Rushville, IL, grandson, Lincoln Michael Wheeler, and a sister Sharon (Bill) Pixley of Mt. Vernon, IL.  Many friends and family also survive.

He was preceded in death by his children, Evan William Bailey, and twins Jackson Evan and Jourdyn Hope Bailey.

Michael was a graduate of MacArthur High School in Decatur, IL, and attended SIU Carbondale.  He was a substation electrician at Ameren Illinois in Beardstown and was a member of the Local #702 Union as an Electric Worker. He was a member of the Beardstown Elks Lodge #1007 and Schuyler County Shooters Club.  Mike enjoyed spending time in nature.  Camping, fishing, and boat rides were his favorite pastimes.  You could always find him fixing things or working in his garage.  Spending time with those he loved was most important to him, and he made memories with everyone he met.  He was always willing to lend a helping hand and expected nothing in return.  He was the definition of “one of the good ones”.

A celebration of Michael’s life will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Triplett & Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Jason Triplett officiating.  

Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service.  Interment will be at the Burnside Cemetery. 

There will be a luncheon and time of fellowship immediatly following the graveside service at the Elks Club #1007 in Beardstown. Everyone is invited to come and share their memories and stories with the family.

Memorials may be made to the Beardstown Elks Club #1007, his grandson’s education fund c/o Pei Yin (Josie) Wheeler, or to the donor’s choice.
