Phillip R. “Phil” Fitzjarrald, Sr. 76, of Camden, passed away at 1:07 PM, Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville, as the result of a truck accident.
He was born on July 12, 1942, in Huntsville, the son of Leeford and Florene (Stolp) Fitzjarrald. He first married Sharon K. Lambert. He later married Rose Mary Hibbs, on July 4, 1980, at his parent’s home in Huntsville. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Michael Fitzjarrald and wife Rebecca of Rushville, Shawn Fitzjarrald and wife Tonya of Camden, and Phillip “Flip” Fitzjarrald, Jr. and wife Michele of Rushville, a nephew, who he helped raise Brian Fitzjarrald and wife Tina of Griggsville, eleven grandchildren, Melissa Agans, Lacey Marcelino and husband Seth, Byron Siekman, Kylie Avery, Audrey Mercer and husband John, Austin Fitzjarrald and wife Tatiana, Kyle Fitzjarrald, Jacob Fitzjarrald, Dylan Fitzjarrald, Kimberly Fitzjarrald and Phillip Fitzjarrald III, 20 great grandchildren, one brother, Larry Fitzjarrald of Camden, one sister, Janet Hanning and husband Danny of Huntsville, two sisters-in law, Kay Fitzjarrald of Rushville and Linda Huddleston and husband Watty of Griggsville, two brothers-in-law Bob Hibbs and wife Shirley of Rushville and Jim Hibbs and wife Sheila of Louisiana, Missouri, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one step daughter Yvonne Edna Newby, and two brothers, Ronald Fitzjarrald and LeRoy Fitzjarrald.
Phil served as a truck driver in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He worked for Bartlow Brothers in Rushville for over 43 years, retiring in 2008.
He was a member of the Camden Masonic Lodge # 648 and the Schuyler American Legion Post #4. He loved hunting, fishing and playing pitch. He also enjoyed watching Westerns, boxing and ultimate fighting on tv. He was always willing to help anyone and would love to sit and visit. Time spent with his family was the most special part of his day.
Services will be at 10:00 AM, Monday, December 10, 2018, at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville, with Brother Matt Haberman officiating. Interment will follow in the Camden West Cemetery, with military rites by the US Army Burial Detail and the Schuyler American Legion Post # 4. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Sunday, December 9, 2018, at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville. Memorials are suggested to the Schuyler County Christmas Basket Program.
