Richard Derry

Richard Eugene Derry, 81, of Brooklyn, passed away at 6:27 PM, Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

He was born on October 15, 1937, in McDonough County, Illinois, the son of Ivan and Ina (Campbell) Derry, Sr.

Surviving are one son Kevin Eversole and wife Ramat of Stone Mountain, Georgia, seven grandchildren Elexous, Elissia, Elija, Ellonna, and Elyvia Eversole, Aminah and Hamedah Badmus, one great granddaughter Hope Calvin, two brothers Arthur Derry and wife Millie of Augusta and Carl Derry and wife Wanda of Goldsboro, North Carolina, one sister Cora Mae Grimm of Industry and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by five brothers Ivan Derry, Jr., George Derry, David Derry, Stanley Derry and Kermit Derry, two sisters LaVera Risse and an infant sister.

Richard was a 1954 graduate of Rushville High School.  He served in the United States Air Force from February 2, 1955 to March 7, 1957.  He worked as a truck driver for various companies, retiring in 2002.  He enjoyed visiting with friends and family and hanging out at the gas station in Brooklyn.

Graveside Services will be at 4:00 PM, Saturday, June 8, 2019, at the Brooklyn Cemetery.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the family.  Wood Funeral Home in Rushville has been entrusted to assist the family.
