Ruth was born March 20, 1921, in Quincy, to the late Louis F. and Josephine (Meissen) Frese. She married John Martin Duppong on Nov. 14, 1945, in St. John's Catholic Church, Quincy. John passed away Oct. 17, 2011.
Ruth worked in San Diego, Calif., during World War II, repairing and building airplanes. She retired from Penrose Manufacturing in Quincy and was a cook at Mendon Elementary for several years.
Ruth was a member of St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church in Mendon, Legion of Mary and the Altar Society. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, canning and baking and was well known for her cinnamon rolls.
Surviving are John (Kathie) Duppong of Lockport, Kalvin (Paula) Duppong of Quincy, Owen (Jan) Duppong of Liberty, Jo Ann (Jerry) Fenton of Springfield and Christine (Alan) Drebes of Quincy; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marie Gramke of Quincy and Betty (Francis) Brady of Georgia; and one sister-in-law, Helen Frese of Liberty.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Alvin (Dorothy) Frese, Paul (Millie) Frese, LeRoy Frese and Lawrence (Catherine) Frese; three sisters, Agnes (Frank) Voss, Helen (Donald) Lansing and Genevieve (Edgar) Campbell; and one brother-in-law, Dan Gramke.
SERVICES: A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 5, at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, Mendon, with the Rev. Jeff Stone conducting. She will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery in Quincy.
VISITATION: 5-7 p.m. Monday, May 4, at the church, with a rosary service at 7 p.m.
MEMORIALS: St. Edwards or the Legion of Mary.
