Shirley Schuster

Shirley L. Schuster, 82, of Golden passed away on Friday, May 25, 2018 in the Golden Good Shepherd Home in Golden.

Shirley was born on August 3, 1935 in La Prairie to the late Emery F. and Verna (Buss) Eber. She married Harold W. Schuster on October 14, 1956 in Immanuel Lutheran Church in Golden. Harold passed away on September 5, 1998.

Shirley Graduated from Central High School and Blessing School of Nursing as an R.N. She was a Charge nurse in Labor and Delivery at Blessing, an Office Nurse Allergist, Oschner Clinic in New Orleans, LA., Staff Nurse in Pediatrics and Private Duty at Blessing Hospital, Office Nurse for Dr. Schoenherr in Bowen from 1976 until 1988 and Assistant Director of Nursing at Golden Good Shepherd Home from 1988 until her retirement in 1998.

Shirley was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Golden, where she was past Junior Choir Director and past Hand Bell Director. She was a member of the Quilting ladies and WELCA. She enjoyed cross stitch and driving anything with an engine. She love boating and being on the river. She was especially gifted at the German art of paper cutting known as “Scherenschnitte”, which means “Scissor cuts” in German.

Survivors include; two children, Ted (Beverly) Schuster of Golden, Doreen Weese of Golden; two grandchildren, Kristin (Aaron) McGruder, Tyler (Liz) Schuster; one step-grandchild, Amanda Coggeshall; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Marian Young of Golden and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by; one son, Timothy A. Schuster.

Services will be 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 in Trinity Lutheran Church in Golden with Reverend Brad Eidson Officiating. Interment will be in Golden Memorial Gardens in Goldens. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services on Wednesday. Memorial contributions have been suggested to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice or the Donor’s Choice.
