Stacey James

Stacey G. James, 55, of Chatham and formerly of Rushville, passed away at 1:38 pm on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at his residence in Chatham.

He was born on April 2, 1969, the son of Don & Mildred Crum. Stacey was a member of the Rushville High School Class of ’87.Stacey earned his bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University in 1992. Stacey achieved the 25 Years of Service Award and ultimately served 33 years, working up until the time of his death. He was also honored as the IDOT Technician of the Year in 2011.

In his younger years, he enjoyed weightlifting as well as target practice at the gun range. An avid outdoorsman, Stacey loved spending his free time cruising on his motorcycle all over central Illinois with his friends.

What truly defined Stacey was his love of God and his love of family. He shared his parents’ love of gospel music and spent many evenings enjoying The Homecoming concerts of the old gospel greats, most notably; Bill & Gloria Gaither. One of Stacey’s greatest joys was spending time with his niece & nephew-and later-with their children. He attended school plays, ballgames, graduations and parties. He loved being at home playing board games with the family during holidays.

Stacey is survived by his sister in-law; Mindy Crum, niece; Mallory (Brandon) Moore, nephew; Tyler (Emily) Crum all of Rushville, great nieces & nephews include ; Danielle, Rayelynn, Andrea & Javan Moore, Ila Jane & Edie Grace Crum, and by several friends. He was preceded in death by Don, Mildred and Danny Crum.

Memorial services honoring Stacey’s life will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at the Triplett & Wood Funeral Home of Rushville. Pastor Rob Kirkham will preside. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until the time of services on Saturday. Memorial contributions in Stacey’s memory are suggested to Breakthrough T1D, a Type 1 Diabetes research organization.
