Virginia Albers

Virginia B. Albers, 95, of Golden passed away on October 23, 2018 in the Golden Good Shepherd Home in Golden.

Virginia was born on February 6, 1923 in Rural Golden to the late Harm and Emma (Weerts) Buss. She married Francis E. Albers on February 9, 1949 in Trinity Lutheran Church in Golden. Francis passed away on May 26, 2012.

Virginia was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was a member of the church quilting group and the women’s group. She was a 68 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary unit # 286 in Clayton.

Virginia volunteered for blood drives and bingo at the nursing home, made quilts and school kits for Lutheran World Relief and offered her support for her church, community and family in whatever was needed. She loved attending her children and grandchildren’s activities.

Surviving are; four children, Bea Albers of Golden, Randall Albers of Golden, Wendell (Penni) Albers of Jacksonville, Fl., Kay (Tom) Bunge of Perry, Mo.; four grandchildren, Samuel, Jenna and Aubrey Bunge, Anna Albers; Brothers-in-law, Ernest Albers of Iowa, Paul Albers of Australia, Jude Croxton of LaPrairie; sisters-in-law, Lois Croxton of Quincy, Jeanette Albers of Golden and several nieces nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by; one grandson, Kyle Bunge and one sister Geneva Reuschel.

Services will be 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 in the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Golden with Reverend Patricia Reep officiating. Interment will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Golden. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. with an American Legion Auxiliary prayer service at 7:00 P.M.on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 in the Hunter Funeral Home in Golden. Memorial contributions have been suggested to the Immanuel Lutheran Church or the Golden Good Shepherd Home.
