Virginia Stocker

Virginia L. Stocker, 96, of Rushville, passed away at 12:45 AM on Saturday, November 14, 2020, at Heritage Health in Beardstown.

She was born on August 25, 1924, in Pana, Illinois, the daughter of Charles and Pauline (Scheer) Maton. She married Ferdinand C. Stocker on August 31, 1946 at the First United Methodist Church in Pana. He preceded her in death on October 18, 2010.

Virginia leaves behind three daughters - Pauletta Vancil of Rushville, Gail Kotter and husband Ken of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Reverend Rosalee Ross and husband John of Rushville.  She is also survived by eight grandchildren Carlette Wankel, Deena Blaine, Susan Krohe, Jeremy Kotter, Lori Thomas, Julie Ross, Amanda VandeHoef, and Joni Harper; seventeen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; her sister Sharon Seibold of Waukee, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, brother Donald Maton, and son-in-law Carl Vancil.

After graduating from Pana High School in 1942, Virginia worked and volunteered in Pana before moving to Rushville in 1959 where she continued to work and volunteer.  She was a member of the Rushville First United Methodist Church.  Her purpose in life was to be a good wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, and a friend to all.

You are invited to pay your respects at an informal visitation without the family present from noon to 6:00 PM, Thursday, November 19, 2020, Wood Funeral Home in Rushville. The Reverend Stacy Tomich will officiate a private family service at a later date at the First United Methodist Church in Rushville.  Private interment will follow in the Rushville City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church in Rushville.
